Tree, Line by Zander Olsen

I really like this photo by a photographer from the UK. It’s great how it plays with my eye, but also how it seems to satirize or exploit the practice of painting tree trunks white. He has more photos on his website.

Whoa, Zander Olsen’s work is amazing. I can appreciate his use of materials to make you hyper aware of moments that go unnoticed. Matti

Hyper aware is right. It’s one of those things where I said, wow, how come I haven’t seen this before?

This pieces so reminds me of some of the Altered Landscapes of John Pfahl from the 1970s–a really hip body of conceptual work that was actually beautiful to look at (http://johnpfahl.com/pages/alteredlandscapes%28east%29/16australianpines.html). Still I think Olsen has dared to take it to where it’s even prettier, something the 70s seemed to look down on.

I hadn’t heard of John Pfahl. Good stuff, and I can see some similarities. Thanks.
